I’m only 16 but my Church is going to Mexico on a mission’s trip and I have been offered to go. I don’t have a lot of information at the moment but I was wondering if it would be a major culture shock for me as I’ve lived and grew up in a middle-class family in Canada and what types of vaccinations I would need and so forth.
Thanks in advanced!
Definitely a culture shock. Make sure you know who’s going and where you’re staying and stuff. Personally, if you hold off going till when you’re in college you might e more mature then. Based on how you dress and the color of your skin people will stare at you a lot. I have no idea what this mission will entail either. Also, you’ll see lots of poor people that are ignored by everyone. Lots of people without jobs. I’ve been to Latin America. Anyway, I think when you’re older, you’ll appreciate it more, wen you’re in college you can take a semester somewhere abroad. It’s your choice, I guess. I’m not sure whre you’ll be staying or how it work out. If they’re just taking you to a fancy hotels and stuff, then I guess it won’t be so bad. It really depends on where and what. I still think you should wait it out. It’s a wonderful place and the people are kind, but there’s lots of troubles that you’ve never really been exposed to, and you won’t even understand it all since you don’t speak Spanish.
