What are you personal experiences with mission trips?

I’m only 16 but my Church is going to Mexico on a mission’s trip and I have been offered to go. I don’t have a lot of information at the moment but I was wondering if it would be a major culture shock for me as I’ve lived and grew up in a middle-class family in Canada and what types of vaccinations I would need and so forth.

Thanks in advanced!

Definitely a culture shock. Make sure you know who’s going and where you’re staying and stuff. Personally, if you hold off going till when you’re in college you might e more mature then. Based on how you dress and the color of your skin people will stare at you a lot. I have no idea what this mission will entail either. Also, you’ll see lots of poor people that are ignored by everyone. Lots of people without jobs. I’ve been to Latin America. Anyway, I think when you’re older, you’ll appreciate it more, wen you’re in college you can take a semester somewhere abroad. It’s your choice, I guess. I’m not sure whre you’ll be staying or how it work out. If they’re just taking you to a fancy hotels and stuff, then I guess it won’t be so bad. It really depends on where and what. I still think you should wait it out. It’s a wonderful place and the people are kind, but there’s lots of troubles that you’ve never really been exposed to, and you won’t even understand it all since you don’t speak Spanish.

What is a good gift for youth girls on a mission trip?

I’m going as the female chaperone on our church’s mission trip to Colorado next week and will be hanging out with 2 incredible girls. One is going into 7th grade and the other 10th grade. One is athletic & really girly, the other is more into the whole punk rock thing. They are both super fun, sweet girls. I was their Children’s minister for about 5 years before they moved up to youth, so this is kind of my last event with them.

I would like to get them a little gift or something that they could use on the trip or make on the trip. Just something to remember the trip and honor them. I’ve been trying to come up with something creative, but my mind is blank.

Any ideas?

wait until you get there and get them a silver platen aspen leaf they can wear as a necklace!!!

Anyone have any fundraiser ideas?

Ok, my youth group and I are going to New York City to help with the homeless ministry for our annual Spring Break Trip. I love mission trips with a passion and this is a lifetime experience. But, the problem is is that I have no clue how to raise $642 by March. I need ANY fundraiser ideas please!
My church has already paid off more than $300 off of the 30 participants that are going. And we already had our 2 fundraisers to help toward the trip. So, the remaining money is left up to us.
oh, i meant $300 off of each participant

There are many companies that have fundraising products that you can sell. Most don’t require any upfront cost to you or the organization. For example, my friend’s son recently did a candle fundraiser to earn some money for a school trip.

He was supplied with free order forms and went to friends, neighbors and family and took orders and payment for the candles. Then he turned in the order and paid a lower price for the candles than what he sold them for, keeping the difference as his fundraising profit. If you are interested in more information, I included a link to the program he used.

How can I plan a mission trip for my school’s Christian club?

I am wanting to improve our lame Christian club into something exciting and appealing to our youth at my school. We really want to volunteer and offer youth outings like a regular church youth group. I need some ideas for that, fundraisers, and mission trips. Please and thank you:)

First of all pray

second, I would say to get a sponsor/someone who really knows about ministry work and missions trip to sort of guide and help you along the way. Maybe your church pastor or a youth minister or a community pastor, minister or established group that already does missions.

In the meantime you could always volunteer at shelters, have drives (clothing, food, toy) and donate the collections.

Know of any Christian mission trips to Europe?

I am 24 years old and already done with college, so I don’t qualify for the student mission trips. I am looking any Christian mission trips that are to the British Isles. Around England, Scotland, Ireland or Wales. I’d prefer to be someplace where they speak English. Because of my job, I can’t get too much time off; so I am looking for ones that are not that long, between 1-3 weeks. My church will not be getting a group together, so I would go by myself or maybe join another group.

I strongly advice you to get the OK from your pastor so that you could be supported while living there. Then again, Missionaries go where they are needed and not where they want to go.

Kudos on your commitment to this cause!

Missionary trips for 15 yr old?

My 15 year old granddaughter is very interested in going on a mission trip next summer, spring break, or Christmas break. Unfortunately her church is very small and they don’t do things like that at all. If you know of any website or anything that gets a group of teens together to do mission work either in other states or even countries, please let me know. I think its a great idea but like I said her church nor mine has the resources. Thanks
Maybe I am misinterpreting your answer, but if you are implying that she is going on a mission to party, you could not be more wrong. Unlike most girls her age she is keen on helping her community/world to become a better place. Not all girls want to party and get themselves so drunk they cant remember on spring break.

You can check TeenMania.org. One place I know of is the Dream Center in Los Angeles. There are still many ministries that are reaching out to the destruction of New Orleans. You may be able to hook up with one of them.
I hope this helps you out. Be blessed and tell your daughter to never lose her heart to reach people with the love of Christ!
