How to let a guy down easy…?

Kind of annoying when u have this guy friend that kinda went somewhere but now u don’t like him and he’s bugging u about going out again. Ok I probably need to start in the beginning. I warn u, it’s a LONG story.

So I met Steve (nickname) at a spring break mission trip with my church. He was going with us. Anyways my friend (T) and I started calling this guy, Steve, because we could never remember his name. So we are having a great time getting to know each other when this other guy, N, who we didn’t who he was at the time, and T started getting more that friendly with each other. So Steve became the third wheel because I started hanging out with this other chick who they didn’t like but I don’t like her anymore because she is really annoying. So I didn’t really get to hang with them and the "lovebirds", as all the people on the trip dubbed them, N and T, really acted loveydovey and Steve was a huge third wheel. Well near the end of the trip I started hanging more out with them and since N and T were occupied, Steve and I had to hang out. It was kinda uncomfortable b/c at the time I was still going out with my ex (long story another blog for another day =]) and I didn’t want to cheat on him but I didn’t really like my ex anymore. So on the last night (by and by we were in New Orleans) the whole group decides we need to go the Hard Rock Cafe because it will be an adventure so we parked the cars and started walking down the French District. So since N and T were occupied again I hung out with Steve which is when we figured out we had a similar taste in music. So we were discussing those music and my ex texts me so of course the wonderful girlfriend, I text him back. I do this the entire dinner until near the end when I go to get a souvenir where Steve helps me choose it. I give him a hug and he thinks I likelike him. Anyways N&T went upstairs and sneaked around a lot and Steve makes a joke and they get pissed but are over it. Anyways that was that trip.

This year I start liking Steve a bit because well idk. We went to youth group and one night he tells me he got dumped because his friend and gf were messing around. So there is the possibility of us going out now. So at the church garage sale I get prettied up for him but he left before I could see him. That would be the last time I see him for awhile and I wondered where he disappeared to. We went to different schools so I wouldn’t find out where he went until I find out not from him but from T. She tells me his family problems just grow and he moves to Louisiana to his grandparents. I feel really hurt but mostly angry at his parents. I couldn’t believe that he left without telling me. So we text and he apologizes and I accept it. I was still hurt though. Anyways we decide we should go out for awhile but over a long-distance. I tried it and it sucked!! I looked at other relationships and see couples hugging small talking just being together and I can’t take it. I needed an arm around me to comfort me. I needed someone there where I can just be with and feel safe so I break up with him. It was a clean cut and I promised it would be a fresh start. So anyways he starts saying he’s coming back to austin and he comes and sees my musical and that night i had a cast party so I couldn’t hang out with him. Now he keeps asking to see if we can date but I don’t want to. He has changed and I don’t like the way he is now. Plus I try to avoid him on like Facebook so I don’t think that is normal. I really want to let him down easy.

You were right a long story, and my head hurts from hitting the desk three times. My coffee just didn’t help. Yawn! A small lesson with guys. Ignore and distance yourself from those that just don’t fit in to you. Be polite and direct and tell him how you two just don’t click. Be as honest as you can for this task. Lying is poor choice. Let him know that you were wrong on leading him on if he feels that way. Otherwise you feel he is a nice guy, but not for a boy friend at this time. That way he will walk away thinking he was close but no cigar. Be nice to him in this conversation and don’t get into an argument. Just be polite and calm. Nice way to assess him in his being turned down phase and how he handles it. Maybe you were right or maybe wrong. Who knows if he might grow in maturity and shape up or puts that L on his forehead and takes it like a jerk…….

What mission fields offer one to two week mission trips to teenagers?

I’m 14 years old and one of my goals in life is to be a missionary. I want to start now and get an idea of what mission trips are like. Are there any safe, Christian missions that would allow me and a friend to go on a mission trip at such a young age?

Speak with your pastor about any upcoming trips either with your church or with another community church. Ours has several a year to Central and South America.

Are there any organizations that go specifically to Romania for mission trips?

My friend and I want to help out over there because she was one of the lucky ones that was adopted and brought over here to a great family at 18 months.
We were watching some videos and it really spoke to me. I feel like I have to go to help out. I’ve been looking for a mission trip to go on for a while now.

Car wash on the sabbath for youth to raise $ for mission trip?

Is this keeping that day holy? I would think as it is for the mission trip that it is, even if the youth are working. The car wash is for donations only, they are charging a fee, so in some cases, the youth will be serving as not all will donate.
Meant to say they are NOT charging a fee.

What day do you consider the Sabbath? Where did Jesus say to observe the Sabbath in his teachings? If I remember correctly the Jewish leaders biggest problem with Jesus, was he did good works on the Sabbath. If you don’t think its right, don’t get your car washed, it is that simple.

how do i sign up for mission trips if i’m not a christian?

like i really want to do these mission trips.where you go help build houses or stuff like that..but i never knew where to sign up..im 19 and really interested but i really don’t know how to get started..can someone help me?

i want to do it around thanksgiving or christmas…and spring break and stuff..

In total agreement with Copperhead89, I add that you should not go on a mission trip until you have the Holy ghost. Never ever put yourself in that position where you have to face the devils of a foreign country until you are "One Sent." (By God)

As also suggested, go with an organization that will be your head and protection and the name that backs you up while you are gone on that trip. Peace Corps, Red Cross, others… Do a google search on Volunteer Organizations.

I plan on going 2 Russia on a christian mission trip 4 teens, next summer does anyone know a good organization

to work with orphans specifcallly!

Unfortunately, I cannot answer your question in that I cannot suggest any particular mission (I would guess though that you can find some on line), but I want to comment on the Olga’s answer above.

The part of the Olga’s answer above starting from "Also what you believe are "orphans"…" is a total BS. You can disregard every word of it. Many Russian orphaneges, particularly those located far from major cities, are in deplorable conditions and are in need of help.

The first part of her answer is, however, correct. Among other things you may encounter unfriendliness and misunderstanding of what you are doing, not to mention that the language barrier is going to be a major problem. You will also see poverty. This job that you are up to is not going to be an easy one, so you need to be really dedicated to what you are going to be doing.

Giving Services going on mission trips?

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any organizations or had a website I could go to that gave details about giving my services or going on mission trips. I really just want to be able to go and travel and help people.

I would prefer something in Latin America, so I could try to learn to speak spanish more fluent, but anywhere would work. It doesn’t necessarily have to be with a religious affiliation. I have no trade skills that I know of, but I would like to give my time and service.

thanks :)

Since you have no work experience and don’t speak Spanish, you need to be ready to pay for your experience entirely — flights, in-country transportation, health insurance, accommodation, food, security, translators, training, staff to create the service opportunities and then to supervise and support you in your service, liaisons with the police and local officials, etc. That will be at least a few thousand dollars.

Organizations that don’t charge fees for placing volunteers in the developing world, such as VSO Canada, UN Volunteers and the PeaceCorps, are looking for people who can work (read, write and speak) in a language other than English, who have skills and experience that can lead to local people generating income, better feeding their families, improving children’s health, etc., or that can lead to the transformation of key institutions, such as government, universities/schools or NGOs. They are looking for people who can commit to a two-year assignment, who have experience working with under-served communities, or who have a lot of experience in very diverse or religiously-conservative communities.

Here is a web site that can help you learn more about the skills and experience desired by long-term placement organizations, or organizations that don’t charge volunteers but require volunteers to be highly-skilled, and how you can start to gain such experience locally, wherever you are now. You are never too young nor too old to start engaging in activities and training that will make you a viable candidate for long-term volunteer placement agencies:

The goal of organizations working in poor countries is to give the local people jobs and to keep money local, not to give Westerners a feel-good vacation/experience — hence why short-term placement agencies (in contrast to the aforementioned) charge unskilled volunteers a fee, or require these volunteers to pay their own way.

There is a listing of the more-than-30 member organizations of the International Volunteers Program Association (IVPA) that is a good place to find reputable volunteer-for-a-fee programs — programs where you don’t need to have much experience in order to participate, and the placements are just for a few weeks or months:

Mission trips for 14 year old 8th grader?

I’m a 13 year old currently in 8th grade. I want to go on a summer mission trip [I will be 14 by summer] and starting high school in August. I WILL NOT be going with a youth group, I need an INDIVIDUAL trip. Can anyone give me a few websites that provide trips like that? I am not interested in hearing "There aren’t many places that do that, good luck finding one." ONLY ANSWER IF YOU HAVE WEBSITES.

I think no! Becouse I have 17 and Have the collage

What are YOUR testimonies? =)?

I need help writing a testimony that I will share on my spring break mission trip. I know that testimony’s are personal and since you don’t know anything about my life *raises eyebrow* I need examples so that I can put together a testimony. I know what it is, I just can’t think of a good one to put into words. I haven’t really been lead away as I’ve been born into my church before I was even born =). God Bless!

My testimony is:

I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He was crucified for the sins of the world.

I know more than that, but that knowledge forms the foundation of my testimony.

does anyone know of any christian mission trips going to ireland?? i can’t find any on the internet. thanks-

There’s always American teams coming over..I know a girl coming this Summer with Youth for Christ.
Operation Mobilisation has a base in Ireland and they have different things going on in a couple places, check out om.org and contact them to see what’s available..
Otherwise, just find out from your home church if they know any churches sending teams or else if you want to come contact a church here in Ireland and see what you can do to help, some take on interns for a short time. We are always open to people coming to serve here…
But I guess the main thing would be to ask God for direction in this and if He wants u to come to Ireland to open up the right opportunities…
All the best
