I’ve always wanted to go on one, but unfortunately my church doesn’t do them. I’ve thought about joining the peace corps, but I think 2 years in a foreign country might be too much for me. So does anyone know any organizations or whatever that I can do a mission trip through? Any suggestions would be great! Thank you! =)
I recommend the Christian Appalachian Project. You can decide how long your "mission" will be. They minister to the poor in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. When you see how poor these folks are, you think you’re in India, not the USA!.
I’m an alumnus of 2 summer sessions there. In fact, I was a member of the original construction crew that built the lodge at their summer recreation camp. A most gratifying experience.

I am helping to plan a mission trip/youth vacation, part of which will be in Lexington, Kentucky.
Of course, Lexington is famous for its horse races, but the youth don’t seem to be interested in this aspect, so we are looking for other sources of entertainment.
Group size: 12ish, ages range from 10-18 (including adult sponsors)
Any recommendations?
Also, I would like to know if any locals have recommendations for:
*a place to get dessert (maybe an ice cream parlor of some kind)
*a quirky art venue, interactive museum, or studio (where the kids can make their own pottery, glass projects, etc.)
*a good hiking location
Pray.
I want to go somewhere out of the US, during my Spring Break to volunteer. I am not apart of any religion so from what I understand about mission trips, it can’t be a mission trip.
I want to go into medicine (not dental), so I would like my volunteer trip to reflect my interests.
What organizations should I contact if I wanted to do this?
Actually, you could go on a mission trip. Just go to any church one day and find the office to ask about a mission trip.I go to an Episcopalian church and that denomination is welcoming to all people) You might be building a habitat house or feeding the hungry. You don’t have to be religious to go on one, but the needy people and the church would want your help.
P.S. I’m sure you could google it if you prefer not to go on a mission trip
Its really depends on what part of the world you are in, but i know for one thing is that http://www.om.org is a world wide organization…I would recommend it since you get on ship ministry training etc..
And another website you can check out is http://www.sim.org/
Goodluck! If its your passion do it
I want to go on a mission trip abroad but I’m not with a certain group. Where can I go online to look for one? I’ve found a lot of websites with google but kind of cautious, you know? I’ve heard a lot of them are scams…
try to ask people that you know first, becasue they might be affiliated with a group that does mission trips to certain places.many youth/christian groups do alot of mission trips, so you can try asking there as well. But like you said, Id be wary about stuff on the internet unless you know the organization to be 100% legit
I am helping to plan a mission trip/youth vacation, part of which will be in Nashville, Tennessee.
Of course, I know Nashville is famous for it’s music scene and the adults would love to do something related, so any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Unfortunately, the youth don’t seem to be interested in this aspect, so we are also looking for other sources of entertainment.

I know it sounds cliche, but the Grand Ole Opry is ALOT of fun! I would defintely get ttickets to go one night, there is also a mall right next to it with an aquarium restaurant(but eating beforehand at a different place would be your best bet cuz it gets really crowded on show nights) I would also definatley eat at the Hard Rock Cafe Nashville, it has a ton of memorablia that is fun to look at, spend the whole time wandering around before you food comes and see a suit with an actual bloodstain from where the perfornaer fell off stage. Pretty awaesome! I went to nashville last summer and loved it, hope this helps
SO i go to a church that is my home church, and they are going on a missions trip to vancouver over spring break and i went to the first meeting and loved it. I am looking to go on a mission trip to latin america this summer. Preferably one that is Christian based. Anyone have any great experiences with one company?
I would love to do the same! For some reason everytime I try to look for a company, the company the only thin that tells me to do to help is to "contribute with some money" So of course is upsetting because I am really trying to help by being a volunteer and..I don’t know if it will ever happend!
I hope you find one soon!!
I am looking at going on a missions trip with some friends but no one local does anything. What are some good missions trip organizations that we can go through or with? Preferably something outside of North America. Thanks

I want to go on a missions trip with my youth group. Only, I cannot afford it. What is the best fundraiser to do for one person to make $300 to $500?
Juliet,
Try giftwrapping, it’s a great one to do this time of year! Go to a local retailer or mall and ask if you can set up a table to giftwrap customers’ purchases in exchange for donations. Retailers usually love to be able to offer the service.
Good luck!
