I am helping to plan a mission trip/youth vacation, part of which will be in Lexington, Kentucky.
Of course, Lexington is famous for its horse races, but the youth don’t seem to be interested in this aspect, so we are looking for other sources of entertainment.
Group size: 12ish, ages range from 10-18 (including adult sponsors)
Any recommendations?
Also, I would like to know if any locals have recommendations for:
*a place to get dessert (maybe an ice cream parlor of some kind)
*a quirky art venue, interactive museum, or studio (where the kids can make their own pottery, glass projects, etc.)
*a good hiking location
Pray.

Take a side trip over to Fort Knox and visit the Armor Museum. That’ll be south of Louisville.

Take them horseback riding instead of to a race. The kentucky horse park does trail rides, so does Deer Run Stables and Whispering woods.
Dessert: Culvers is the best, it’s in Hamburg
Culver’s of Lexington, KY – Hamburg Place
2161 Paul Jones Way
Lexington, KY 40509
I’m not sure about art…I’ll ask around and get back to you.
Hiking: I would try Raven Run Nature Sanctuary
