GOOD fundraising ideas!?

This summer I am going on a mission trip with my youth group to guatamala that will cost about $1200

I am also going on a people to people student ambassador trip to australia, which I’m thinking will end up costing me about $5000

And then during spring break, my french class is going to france and that will cost $1800-$2300

That’s about 9000 dollars I have to raise on my own! [well, I'm sure my parents will pitch in a little, but right now they are saying I have to do it all myself] and I need some GOOD ideas on how to make it.

I know that I can do things like bakesales, but I don’t know how to get started on anything.
Can you please explain how to get started and how much I will make with each fundraiser you include? Thank you!

Oh, and if I’m going to ask for donations from businesses, what kind of businesses would be best to ask, and how do I go about asking?

Thank you!!!

Ladies, need help reading my girl…is she loyal?

She’s 22, I’m 20. We’ve been dating almost 11 months. We live in the same apartment complex, so we see each other all the time. 2 weeks ago, we had this great talk at a Mexican restaurant how we think cheating is the worst and we’d both never do it. But she’s been emailing with other guys, one in particular saying "hey! ive been thinking about you! Call me!" She left her email up on my computer yesterday and curiosity got the best of me. Anyway, I can’t tell if she’s just very comfy with me and casual or if she’s getting bored and seeking new thrills. She’s going to San Diego for spring break to hang out with friends and I’ll be in Mexico on a mission trip. She tells me a few times a day that she loves me so much. She can’t be cheating, can she? Should I be worried? Thanks!

Darlin’ if you come across as clingy and needy to her as you do in this question, you may be scaring her off.

As the old parable goes… If you hold a bird too tightly you might kill it. If you open your hand and it flies away it was never yours to begin with. But if you open your hand and it stays, then it is yours… applies here. She is either your girl or she isn’t. Clinging to her won’t make it any less so. You need to trust her and what happens… happens.

Is it time to start real profiling?

To ensure we Americans never offend anyone — particularly
fanatics intent on killing us — law enforcement and security
screeners are not allowed to "profile" people in public places or
security checkpoints. However, they will continue to perform
random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots
with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members
of the President’s security detail, 85-year-old congressmen with
metal hips and even Medal of Honor recipients. But targeting
Middle Eastern male Islamists between the ages 17 and 40
constitutes "ethnic profiling."

President George Bush said this week, "America is at war with
Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us
who love freedom, to hurt our nation." The Council on
American-Islamic Relations issued an immediate objection to the
President’s reference to "Islamic fascists". Nihad Awad,
executive director of CAIR protested, "We have to isolate these
individuals because there is nothing in the Koran or the Islamic
faith that encourages people to be cruel or to be vicious or to
be criminal. Muslims world wide know that for sure." In light of
this objection, we are left to ponder why every Islamic leader in
the U.S., and the world, does not publicly condemn every terror
action being undertaken in the name of the god of Islam. Their
silence is deafening…

Between 1970 and present, there were more than 60 other notable
examples of terrorism perpetrated by Middle Eastern male
Islamists between the ages 17 and 40, but we think you get the
point. Singling out "Middle Eastern male Islamists between the
ages 17 and 40" is not "ethnic profiling," it’s "terrorist
profiling" — acting on prolific evidence.

Anyone for Terrorist Profiling?

Yes Very very good. Exactly we are at "WAR" with Islamo Fascists, They are and look like "ARABS". When will this insanity end. Profiling has it’s place. This is where it belongs. If it looks like a terrorist, and smells like a terrorist, well by God, the chances are he might be a terrorist.
Not one of the Bombings have been carried out by a little ol lady from Cincinnati.

What should I do on my 22nd birthday?

Its spring break week, so everyone has gone home, and my parents are on mission trip in Africa. I’m having a dinner the weekend after everyone gets back, but I don’t know what to do for the day of (Thursday). My options that I see are hang out with my college pastor (who happens to be one of my bestfriend’s almost fiance), drive around Lubbock doing random things, play with my dogs all day, or sit around by myself doing nothing and watching movies. Anyone got any better ideas?
Obviously you guys didn’t read my question. All of my friends have gone home for spring break. There is no one here to have a party with.

Do you have any money? Indulge yourself with something special. Is there something you like but never buy for yourself? if anything, do get out and about. Maybe take a camera with you, that’s always fun. Happy early B-Day girl!

thailand missions trip?

i will be going on a missions trip with some other students from my school to Thailand during spring break 2009. is there anything i should know while preparing to go on the trip? any past experiences from anyone? advice? thanks
everyone, chill out.
i believe we’re going to thailand to help kids.

I have never been to Thailand but I have been to similar countries.
The best advice I can give you is to
Pray before leaving
LISTEN to those from Thailand that are there to translate for you or to help in any way.
Take everything they say very serious.
If you are allowed to take notes/pictures do so as you will forget things.
Don’t take notes or take pictures if you are told not to even if you don’t understand why
Have a great time and God bless

Should I transfer schools or just apply spring semester?

For two years I really thought that I wanted to go to Bloomsburg University. I was accepted and I made the mistake of only applying to one other school. I realize now that Bloom is not the school for me. It’s a huge party school and I don’t drink or smoke, and I found out that the psychology major is centered on behavioural psychology, which I don’t want to study. The school is also many hours away from my house, and I know that I won’t be able to deal with that, because I suffer from depression and anxiety disorder, and I will be too far from my doctor as well. Recently I became really involved with my Christianity and there are no churches in or around bloom that are my faith. I want to be surrounded by christians, which is why I’ve decided that I want to go to Eastern University. I checked out & visited the school and I love it. I have such a good feeling there, and it’s only twenty minutes from my house. They are strict about no drinking/smoking and they don’t have co-ed housing, which I really like. There are so many christian activies and opportunities such as mission trips and festivals, I wish I was there right now!

I don’t know what to do though. I really, really, really don’t want to go to bloom in the fall. I am unsure as to whether I should go for my first semester to bloom and apply as a transfer student to eastern, or whether I should apply for their spring semester now, and if i get in, forget bloom in the fall and go straight to eastern?
I really don’t know what to do. I’ve been really upset about my stupid mistake about bloom for a while now, i break down crying a lot!

If you accepted Bloomsburg acceptance then see if there’s anyway you can back out and just apply to eastern for spring semester. There’s no reason for you to put up with all the stress of going to Bloomsburg if you really don’t want to.

What’s some Good Music?!?!?

I need a good song for this video I’m making. My youth group is going on a missions trip to brazil over spring break and I was supposed make a video that would get people pumped and inspired.
I need music suggestions.
It doesn’t have to be christian, but i does have to be family friendly.
And my church isn’t really like the Hymn type of church. more hillsong united. so think along those lines. thanks SO much for any suggestions.
And if you have any info about brazil fill me in on that too.

God Bless!

" God Bless! "

well then " God only Knows " by the Beach Boys is good.

but not really what your looking for, let me think..

Pumped… and Inspired..

" Don’t stop Believing " by Journey is good to get pumped.

Sorry not much of a help.

good luck.

silver ring..finger green?

I got a silver ring when I was on a mission trip in Haiti over my spring break, I wear it everyday, and now where it lays on my finger is greenish. Please don’t tell me it’s not real, because I know it is, I even met the guy who made my ring and they are not technologically advanced enough to make a copper ring and cover it with silver. It’s an imprinted ring, with indentations directly into a plain silver band. Please tell me what to do because I love this ring and the memories it holds and don’t want it to keep doing this. If there is anything I can do besides put clear nail polish on the inside would be awesome, because I don’t really want to do anythign like that.
first of all, for you who think i am condescending, forget it, personally i think the Haitian people are much more reasonable than Americans. About 20 of us bought rings and mine is the only one that is turning my finger green.
oh, and we got to see how they make the rings…they take the silver form it into a plain strip, then wrap it around a sizer in which they mold it together (I can easily see where they did this on mine) then then they reheat it, take a hammer and using a stamp, stamp the engraving in. It’s not perfect by any means, many of the stamped in pieces are off a bit or don’t line up. It just holds so many memories, and I love it.

fake rings will turn your finger green, ive never had a real silver ring turn mine green.

what someone tells you and what is true are sometimes two entirely differant things.

How do i get this girl to like me?

I just met this girl over spring break on a mission trip. I realy like her and would like to go out with her. We go to the same school and i see her around sometimes. How do i get her to notice me above others guys and get her to like me?

Be confident. Girls like guys who are confident. DON’T write her notes or have your friend tell her you like her. Just go up to her and start a conversation. When you’re comfortable enough just walk up to her and ask her out on a date. The main thing is to be confident, but not cocky.

What are some fundraising ideas?

I am going on a missions trip to Mexico with my youth group during spring break. My friend and I are trying to find ways to raise money. Ideas?
I’m fundraising for the trip…

assuming your looking for money for this trip I would suggest: bake sales, car wash, house cleaning services for a small fee. You can advertise the services for free on craigslist.org

if you have a little money I would try making up raffle prizes…cheap place would be ortientaltrading.com
