College Student ABC’s for Cancun & Belize

[D] Dependence: From the day God tells you to conduct missions work in Belize, you’ll need to depend on Him every step of the way to Central America. An attitude of faith (dependency/trusting Jesus) must prevail in your raising funds, overcoming trials and dealing with people who speak negatively about your missions trip! When you think you’re alone, when it seams that no one cares, dependence on God is a key to getting to the Caribbean missionary campus.

[E] Enthusiasm: Enthusiasm is contagious, even for missionaries. As an ambassador for Christ, your enthusiasm for your Savior will go a long way toward showing Yucatan Mayan people that they need a relationship with Him.

[F] Flashlight: A good missionary follows the Boy Scout motto: Be prepared. When you’re on mission telling people about the Light of the World, bring a portable light source to help you navigate in dark places.

[A.] Attitude: You’ll face all kinds of obstacles as you work to fulfill the Great Commission. Keeping a good attitude can be the difference between having a good student mission’s trip experience and a bad one.
[B.] Bible: The Bible is your essential handbook for missionary work. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible not only explains why we should be on missions service, but you’ll also find the New Testament examples of time-tested techniques for telling the world about Jesus.
[C.] Commitment: There’s nothing easy for a college student trying to obey the Great Commission on spring break. It carries considerable cost. Lots of heat, bugs and long days, when you’re training on campus, your commitment to Christ will be tested.

Taking Inventory

Missionary Trips to: Belize / Guatemala / Missions near Cancun
Taking inventory of your available supplies while on a extreme mission trip is the key for a successful missions experience. You should always pay special attention to your emergency survivor items. Taking inventory for college (spring break Trip) includes everything you are carrying in your pack, including the items that are in your pockets. Everything you have with you at times can become temporary survival tools.

[1] Why you should always carry a lighter on a mission trip:
When taking ground transportation or a boat to a dissident village you never know when a motor can break down. If you breakdown late in the day, it may mean you’re stuck for the night. If you cannot find a way to civilization, shelter and a fire should be your next focus. In a rescue situation, if you are hidden beneath trees you will most likely not be seen. Find a visible area and if you do not have a tent, build a lean-to out of material from the immediate area. Now, use your lighter to build a fire.

Reasons why to carry a lighter:
(a) A fire is a source of warmth.
(b) The smoke of a fire keeps insects away.
(c) Staying near a fire is an enormous psychological booster.
(d) Area animals’ hate fire and detours any visiting critters
(e) A fire is a means of signaling for those who are usually coming to find you.
(f) You can purify area water by draining water through a sock and boiling.
(g) Silverware, knives and pots can sterilized with fire
(h) Your food will taste better when wormed over a fire.
